Who We Are

Women Around the World as Catalysts for Lasting Community Change!

Our Mission

The Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.

Developing Women

The Junior League of Gainesville – Hall County has been training women to be community leaders since 1951.  The training the Junior League provides to our members is what sets us apart from other volunteer organizations.

We provide training for members in the following ways:

  • General Membership Meetings: Provide training and general League information in a large group setting. Speakers are often brought in to educate, inform and inspire.
  • Placements:   Members receive a variety of training in each of our placement opportunities. Working together within each committee, members have the opportunity to organize and implement a league project on a large scale. These projects provide service to the League and impact the member’s training goals.
  • Provisional Course: Newest Junior League members spend a cohort period together learning about the League and the importance and impact of our community involvement.
  • AJLI Leadership Training: The Association of Junior Leagues International offers training available to all members in varying leadership skills through a series of professional programs.
  • WomenSource Partnership: All active members are also respective members of WomenSource, that offers a variety of regular programming as a way to educate and connect women with one another in order to help women feel empowered. Find more about WomenSource on their website.

Promoting Volunteerism

Decade after decade, the inspirational service and advocacy of Junior League volunteers not only has helped bring about many of the privileges we now take for granted—from free school lunches to domestic violence shelters and clean water—but has shaped the way people think about serving their local communities, their nations, and the world.

The Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County is dedicated to providing its members with meaningful training and volunteer opportunities. One of the largest and most impactful of the League’s initiatives is the Diaper Bank of North Georgia. The diaper bank collects and distributes diapers, wipes, and other essentials to families in need through partner agencies.

The Junior League of Gainesvile-Hall Co. also works closely with local nonprofits to find out their volunteer needs and fills this gap by providing League members as volunteers through Done in a Day service projects. The League also provides volunteer opportunities to its members through its various events and programs, such as the Diaper Bank of North Georgia.

Connecting our members with volunteer opportunities helps to build their character and skills, as well as make a lasting impact on our community.

Improving the Community

Members of the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County are devoted to making the community a much better place to live in by being a resource for this area’s nonprofit organizations. This year, active League members will each work with a local non-profit agency through a Done In A Day (DIAD) project. Organizations who benefit through our volunteers include Habitat for Humanity of Hall County, CASA, Edmondson Telford Child Advocacy Center, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier.

Additionally, the League reserves a percentage of money raised from each fundraiser to provide a Signature Grant every five years. This grant is awarded to a deserving nonprofit or a major League project. The first Signature Grant of $30,000 was awarded to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hall County in 2000-2001.  In 2005-2006, the League awarded Sonrise Camp $50,000.  In 2010-2011, a third Signature Grant of $50,000 was awarded to Gateway Domestic Violence Center for its Transitional Housing Project. In 2015-2016 the Signature Grant amounted to $75,000 and was awarded to two organizations: Edmondson-Telford and Family Promise. The funds for Edmonson-Telford were to upgrade the center’s forensic equipment and a medical exam room. The funds for Family Promise went toward a renovation of an affordable home for transitional housing.

In 2020-2021, the Signature Grant amounted to $50,000 and was split between four organizations: Rock Goodbye Angel, Children’s Center for Hope and Healing, The Hispanic Alliance, and Northeast Georgia Speech Center.
