Literacy for Hall/ The Reading Crew

Inspiring a Community of Readers

In discussion with the United Way of Hall County, we have identified elementary literacy as an opportunity in our community. Looking through the local statistics from both Hall County and Gainesville City, there has been a decline in the percentage of third graders across all races and ethnicities who are labeled as developing learners or above on their milestones on the ELA test.

Nearly half of Hall County School and Gainesville City students are reading below grade level by third grade – a critical benchmark for lifelong learning. In response, we are proud to launch Literacy for Hall, a dynamic new initiative aimed at changing the trajectory of literacy in our community.

At the heart of this initiative is The Reading Crew, a program designed to promote early literacy through interactive experiences, community involvement, and access to resources. Grounded in the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to read, grow, and thrive, The Reading Crew will bring together students, families, and local champions to build a stronger foundation for educational success.
